As more and more people make resolutions about getting fit, eating healthy and boosting energy levels it is important to have a look at how you fuel your day. At Heart Space Whole Foods we pride ourselves on offering just food. So, we believe that supplements should be food based as much as possible! Food supplements include powdered berries, powdered roots, protein blends and seeds. We stock two main brands of supplement in the shop: Pulsin and Naturya.
Protein Powders are used by athletes looking to improve their general performance, build strength and aid recovery after exercise, but did you know protein powder makes a great supplement to any diet? Pulsin’ protein powders are all unflavoured and free from added sweeteners, flavourings and unnecessary bulk fillers. You get nothing but organic goodness to add to our diet. As part of a healthy breakfast, sprinkle into cereal, juices and smoothies for an easy, great-tasting protein health boost that will keep you fuller for longer. We carry lots of Vegan and Vegetarian proteins like soy, pea, rice and sunflower (the new kid on the block) so you can explore which is your favourite. See the recipe below for some smoothie inspiration to kick start your morning.
Along with protein powders, we also have a range of superfood powders. We want to share a little bit of info with you so you can choose what is best for you:
Spirulina is a powdered sea water algae and is made up of between 60-70% complete protein. This powder also has multivitamins and is bursting with iron, calcium, magnesium, selenium, vitamin E, zinc, B vitamins and other trace vitamins.
Acai is probably the tastiest of the superfood group. It has a rich berry taste which will give your smoothies that kick it needs. This is powdered acai berry which is known for being a rich antioxidant and is loaded with vitamin E, and lots of essential fatty acids.
Wheatgrass is another of our dried greens. It can have quite a bitter taste, so be ready for that! This superfood is bursting with chlorophyl and antioxidants and is high in fibre and vitamin A. Like all our supplements, you can add this to smoothies and juices.
Maca is a South American root that boosts energy and tastes a little like caramel (yum!). Maca is a source of thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B6, calcium and iron which all contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism. It also contains zinc which contributes to normal fertility and reproduction, as well as normal levels of testosterone in the blood. Riboflavin and zinc additionally supports the regulation of hormonal activity and help to reduce tiredness and fatigue.
Lucuma has been used as a sweetener for centuries and, like Maca, has a rich caramel taste. Lucuma is a great source of potassium which contributes to maintenance of normal blood pressure, and also contains iron which supports a reduction in tiredness and fatigue as well as zinc which contributes to maintenance of normal bones, teeth, hair and nails and contributes to normal fertility and reproduction.
We also have Cocoa Nibs and Chia Seeds that you can add to any cereal, smoothie and dessert to boost your energy. All of these super foods come from Naturya.
